152 Overlake is a new mixed-use residential complex in Redmond, WA. EPRO and the certified installer, Lizard Waterproofing, Inc., collaborated early in the process to evaluate site conditions and project documents. Together, both parties determined the right solutions at this site were E.Proformance Shoring and HotDeck. A total of 11,000 square feet of E.Proformance was specified below grade.
According to W.G. Clark Construction Co, the general contractor, EPRO supported design solutions for unforeseen conditions that were not fully detailed in the plans. EPRO also helped resolve a complex shoring wall to slab-on-grade transition detail.
“EPRO helped us work through a tough transition. Their team was proactive and quick to respond, and we were able to keep the project moving without schedule impacts,” says Scott McMicken, Project Manager, W.G. Clark.
Ken Betts, owner of Lizard Waterproofing found the E.Proformance installation uncomplicated. “There were no issues,” he said, “and we were fortunate it was pretty straightforward.”
E.Proformance is one of three composite systems in EPRO’s E.Series line of products. It is below-grade pre-applied vertical wall protection, and it is compatible with cast-in-place poured concrete or shotcrete, and when applied to different types of shoring methods
including soldier pile, back lagging, shotcrete soil nail, internal rakers, caissons, secant walls, and sheet pile. On this project, E.Proformance provided flexibility based on jobsite sequencing needs.
“We’re extremely happy with the installation, service, and quality of the product. EPRO and Lizard are excellent team players and experts in their fields,” says McMicken.
Additionally, 4,000 feet of EPRO’s BentoTak was installed in all cold joints, both horizontal and vertical, serving as the last line of defense in the waterproofing system. It is also required for a warranty.
On this project, Colin Boomars of LAB Construction worked with BentoTak for the first time and was impressed with the results – so much so that he is using it again on future projects:
“I was skeptical at first, but BentoTak’s ease of installation and the fact it didn’t activate after a few days in standing water proved the product’s value—and its performance,” he says. “That impressed me. I’m looking forward to working with BentoTak on future projects.”
