The Project

Edgecore data center is located in an industrial neighborhood of Santa Clara. The plan calls for replacing an existing 199,920 square-foot structure with two new centers spanning over 500,000 square feet. Also included are 134 parking spaces and 90 bicycle spots. The facility officially opened in September 2025.

70,000 square feet of PreTak was installed preemptively for vapor intrusion mitigation and because of its attractive price point. The product was also selected for waterproofing due to hydrostatic conditions at the elevator pits.

“I think honestly it was a decent product,” explains the Holder Construction team. “It was picked because we ran into some scenarios where a detail was not going to be met with the first product selection (how tight the conduits were, for example) and the product had to get very tight around those. EPRO introduced PreTak.”

EPRO's Solution

PreTak is a pre-applied high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheet waterproofing membrane combined with a pressure sensitive adhesive that fully adheres to cast in place concrete and shotcrete to prevent lateral water migration in both blindside shoring and under slab applications. Installation is productive and reliable with up to 8 ft wide rolls to minimize seams.

The Holder team also appreciated their experience with the EPRO representatives.

“We enjoyed the folks we got to work with. They were responsive and great and even able to complete a custom detail that we then had approved.”
