Century City is a famous and exclusive neighborhood in Los Angeles, bordering some of the most expensive local real estate: It’s in proximity to Beverly Hills, Holmby Hill, and near the famous Nakatomi Plaza, for those who are Die Hard fans. Additionally, the Penthouse in the Century Plaza tower was also one of the priciest parcels of real estate in Los Angeles. Needless to say, Century City Center is located in a high profile area.

This brand-new building’s address is the glamorous 1950 Avenue of the Stars, and its construction is a testament to the area’s resilience and continued development during and after the pandemic. Urbanize LA reported that JMB Realty has sought to redevelop the site at 1950 Avenue of the Stars since 2005, and the project slowly eventually forward through pandemic and logistical challenges.
Upon completion, Century City Center will be the main headquarters for the CAA casting agency. So far, CAA has leased 400,000 square feet, investment firm Clearlake Capital leased the top eight floors spanning approximately 150,000 square feet, and Sidley Austin, a law firm, leased 75,000 square feet, according to the LA Times.
At an impressive 564 feet and 37-stories, this tower will have approximately 730,000 square feet of office space, four levels of underground parking and one level of parking at grade. A park spanning two acres will cover the roof of the parking area and connect to the building. Strategically located right next to the entrance of a new metro station, Century City Center will have a glass exterior, sculpted roofline, and is targeted for LEED Platinum certification.

Johnson Fain, the building’s architect, and consultant ABBAE specified E.Protect+ for 175,000 square feet underslab and 80,000 square feet at the walls to protect the building envelope. The system was installed by J.P. Gergen, Co.
“This site had many challenges that were constantly evolving and subsequently required attention to detail and swift responses,” says Nate Shamosh, J.P. Gergen Co, the EPRO installer. “EPRO provided excellent product support through a wide range of unique site conditions.”

E.Protect+ is waterproofing and contaminant vapor intrusion protection compatible with cast-in-place and shotcrete foundation walls; it gives incomparable protection against hydrostatic conditions, chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOCs), methane gas, and petroleum hydrocarbons. E.Protect+ combines three effective waterproofing systems into one to create the highest level of composite below-grade building protection on the market.

Additionally, E.Protect+ installs quickly over large areas, such as the Century City Center site, which can help keep projects on or ahead of schedule.
The project is slated for completion in 2026.
