A new retail outlet will serve as the anchor tenant for a $2.5 billion redevelopment project in New Jersey. This massive mixed use development aims to transform disused waterfront property into a major destination for living, shopping, and entertainment.
According to Colliers, the site in question was a contaminated industrial brownfield site with complicated subsurface soil conditions. The project consists of a mixed use waterfront development with more than 2.8 miles of waterfront; 3,000,000 SF of retail space; 1,250 hotel rooms; a government complex; 2,000 residential units; an entertainment complex; marina; and multiple digital media towers.
The area earmarked for the new store required a radon mitigation system as preemptive protection and Edgeboro was recommended and selected as the installation contractor. Edgeboro and their team worked through the various site specific details for the subslab venting and monitoring system and determined a massive 200,000 square feet of EPRO’s Geo-Seal EV40s was the idea product for the site.
“As with our past experiences, the deployment of the EV40 system was easy. When we returned after each pour to continue the system, the exposed EV40s held up quite well," says Bill Stetson, Edgeboro International, Inc. the EPRO installer.
Edgeboro knew that Geo-Seal EV40s served the right level of mitigation and was also versatile enough to install correctly across the store’s atypical sequencing plan.
Geo-Seal EV40s consists of an EVOH membrane combined with a robust geotextile layer to provide a single sheet vapor intrusion barrier that is chemically resistant and easy to install while also providing improved protection during the installation process. It is ideal for lower risk sites where site concentrations are at or below state-specific screening levels or large, wide-open, flat sites where speedy installation times are required.
