Building envelope protection must be successfully installed before the more aesthetic elements of a building are added. It serves to protect the final structure, ensures its longevity and, most importantly, creates a safe and healthy environment for occupants.
The building envelope comprises many elements, several of which involve EPRO’s expertise and suite of waterproofing and vapor intrusion mitigation solutions. Our nuanced systems can require understanding of the requirements that dictate their use, and we have a network of trained and certified applicators.
EPRO has developed two AIA-credited courses to help others in the industry better understand the conditions that necessitate waterproofing or a vapor barrier. More information enables all trades to discover how all the parts of the building envelope fit together and how it contributes to the best possible completed structure. Plus, attendees receive continuing education credit including one for health, safety, and wellness.
Here are our courses on offer. We’d love to come bring you lunch and present – tell us when we can bring our course to you!
EPRO0523: Building From the Outside In: Waterproofing Sites with Hydrostatic and Contaminant Risk
This course is designed to teach participants about the importance of properly protecting the building envelope. Discussions will focus on the different ways groundwater or vapor contaminants can enter a building, and we will also examine the problems caused by these. Finally, participants will learn different waterproofing application methods and the types of system that can be a good fit for any and all site conditions.
After this course, you will:
- Understand the problems created by groundwater and contaminant building infiltration
- Understand the importance of protecting the building envelope
- Be able to identify and define different waterproofing materials and applications
- Learn the importance of selecting the right waterproofing system for different site conditions
EPRO0524: Vapor Intrusion Mitigation: Protecting Buildings From Invisible Vapor Intrusion Threats
This course examines different mitigation methods and systems designed to protect humans from hazardous contaminated vapors entering buildings. Discussion will revolve around the problems that arise with contaminant vapor intrusion and how these vapors can enter buildings. After this course, participants will be able to define a vapor intrusion barrier, understand the different types of barriers and their purposes. Finally, we will take a look at some real-world scenarios to better understand how these systems are applied to different conditions.
- Understand why harmful vapors are present and how they can be mitigated
- Discuss elements of chemical vapor intrusion barriers and learn how they are installed and the importance of a well-designed system
- Discover the realities of vapor intrusion mitigation and how partnering with the right manufacturer can lead to success
- Understand the different types of barrier and their purposes
